Darren Morton, PhD

Title: Five Secrets for Feeling Fantastic and Become What You Believe

Dr. Morton’s degree is in Human Physiology and he is a Senior Lecturer on the Faculty of Education at Avondale College in Australia. He has over 50 publications to his credit including the book, Seven Secrets for Feeling Fantastic, and has been awarded the Australian Fitness Industry’s Author of the Year award. Darren holds a coveted Citation from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council for outstanding contributions to University Teaching. He has delivered hundreds of presentations throughout Australia and internationally. Formerly a national level athlete, most of his training now involves chasing his three very active children with his wife, Sarah.

 

Jeff Novick, MS, RD

Title: How to Eat More, Weigh Less and Live Longer

Mr. Novick’s humorous approach to nutrition has helped thousands worldwide make the transition to healthful living. He serves as Director of Health Education for the National Health Association and is the nutritionist/dietitian for the prestigious McDougall Program in Santa Rosa, CA. He was Director of Nutrition at the Pritikin Center in Florida and has taught nutrition at several university medical schools. Sigve Tonstad, MD, PhD

Title: For the Healing of the Nations

Dr. SigveTonstad is from Norway and is currently an internist in the Department of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Religion at Loma Linda University. He received his MD from LLU School of Medicine and his PhD from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, founded in 1410. He has also studied at Middle East College in Beirut, Andrews University, and Duke University. He was a pastor, evangelist, and teacher in Oslo, Norway. He has been widely published with more than 50 articles in Norway and the US and has taught at both Andrews University and Avondale College.

 

Roger Greenlaw, MD

Title: The Leaky Gut and Reversing Heartburn

Dr. Greenlaw is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Holistic Medicine and before retiring, practiced for many years in Rockford, IL where he is the medical director of the Rockford CHIP program. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Greenlaw places special emphasis on the role of diet, exercise, and stress management in the care of his patients. George Guthrie, MD, MPH

Title: Diet and Aging

Dr. Guthrie, a graduate of Loma Linda University Medical School, served in family practice in a multi-specialty clinic on the island of Guam. He earned a Masters of Public Health degree from LLU where he joined the faculty of the School of Health and the School of Medicine. Later, while in clinical practice in the foothills of California’s High Sierras, he and his wife, Dena, became involved in presenting CHIP to the community. His keen interest in lifestyle medicine led him to Medical Directorship of both Canvasback Mission and Lifestyle Center of America. Today he teaches in the Florida Hospital Family Practice residency program with an emphasis in lifestyle medicine.

 

Sheri Simson, Fitness Trainer

Sheri is an enthusiastic fitness leader who speaks, coaches, and writes about taking responsibility for your own health. She was a successful building contractor with her own construction company when she developed a passion for exercise, becoming a bit of a "fitness freak" and a pole walking expert after she lost over 35 pounds using the European pole walking method. Warwick Pascoe, BSc (Hons)

Titles: The Making of a Masterpiece and CHIP.com: Reaching Generation X, Y, and Z with the CHIP Message

Mr. Pascoe is an exploration geologist and environmental consultant from New Zealand who has worked in some of the remotest parts of the planet, including Antarctica, Borneo and Namibia. For the last 13 years Warwick has spent his spare time conducting presentations on human development for a wide variety of groups including schools, universities, prisons, businesses and community groups (see www.masterpiece.org.nz).

Hans Diehl, DrHSc, MPH

Richard Hart, MD, DrPH

Title: The President's Welcome

Dr. Hart is the President and CEO of Loma Linda University. He has also served LLU as Chair of the Department of Health Sciences, Director of the Center for Health Promotion, Chair of the School of Medicine Department of Preventive Medicine, Dean of the School of Public Health, and Chancellor and CEO. He was the first student missionary from the Adventist church to serve outside North America. He and his family later served in Tanzania for 5 years. As an intern from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, he developed the department of community health in Moshi, Tanzania and co-authored Child Health for midlevel health professionals in Africa.  Dr. Hart has a vision for health care that extends to the farthest reaches of the globe.

Edwin Nebblett, MD, MPH

Titles: A Spiritual CHIP Mind and Without a Vision

Dr. Nebblett, a graduate of LLU School of Medicine and School of Health has a strong interest in health education, nutrition, and alternative medicine. He first became acquainted with CHIP while an assistant professor in family medicine at Michigan State University-Kalamazoo where the DVD series for CHIP was filmed. He and his wife, Maria, moved to New Mexico to provide rural living and homeschooling for their four musically talented children. Dr. Nebblett is currently an adjunct medical faculty at the University of New Mexico, medical director of the Presbyterian Medical Service and the local emergency medical service. He was co-host of the television series "Lifestyle Magazine” and also co-hosted the children's television ministry “Janice's Attic.”

 

Clarence Schilt, DMin and Dianna Schilt

Titles: A Life to Die For Parts I and II

Dr. Clarence Schilt is a retired pastor and his wife, Dianna, is a retired church school teacher. Clarence has been a faculty member in the School of Religion at Loma Linda University and pastored churches in Virginia, Pennsylvania, California, Idaho and Oregon. He is widely known for books he has written and video training tapes on small group ministries, as well as his leadership in spiritual growth retreats. His most recent book is A Life to Die For, co-authored with his brother Stephen. Clarence and Dianna have also led deeply spiritual and practical retreats for marriage enrichment. Their presentations will do more to help you live a truly Christ-centered life than anything else you’ve experienced in a long time. Harold Burden, MDiv, MPH

Title: CHIP Stories

Pastor Harold has been the chairperson of the Adventist CHIP Association since its founding in December of 2000. He was a pastor in Wyoming and then a missionary in South America for ten years—Lake Titicaca, Peru & Medellin, Colombia. After 25 years as hospital health educator at Portland Adventist Medical Center, he “retired” and became a full-time CHIP volunteer. His is the wit, the wisdom, and the glue that does so much to hold “CHIP in the Church” together.

 

Randy Roberts, DMin

Sabbath Thanksgiving Early Service, Loma Linda University Church

Dr. Roberts was born in South America of missionary parents where he spent the majority of his early life. He has served as pastor in Texas, chaplain at Loma Linda University Medical Center, and was instrumental in establishing and leading the Center’s grief recovery program. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist and has also served as the Associate Dean for the Faculty of Religion at LLU. He has been the senior pastor of the University Church since 2000, speaking both nationally and internationally. He has authored the book The End is Near (Again)
